Today's common
cosmetic dental treatment options include:
Whitening, or "tooth bleaching", is the most
commonly prescribed cosmetic dental procedure. While
many whitening options are now available,
dentist-supervised treatments remain the recommended
procedures for lightening discolored teeth.
Enamel shaping removes parts of the
contouring enamel to improve the appearance of the
tooth. It may be used to correct a very small chip.
The removed enamel is irreplaceable. It is also
known as enameloplasty, odontoplasty, recontouring,
reshaping, slenderizing, and stripping.
Bonding is an option for chipped or cracked
teeth. It is a process in which an enamel-like
dental composite material is applied to a tooth's
surface, sculpted into shape, hardened, and then
polished.
Veneers, ultra-thin, custom-made laminates
that are bonded directly to the teeth, are an
increasingly popular procedure. They are an option
for closing gaps or disguising discolored teeth that
did not respond well to whitening procedures.

are done to replace
missing teeth. They are a permanent means of
replacing lost or badly damaged teeth that have to
be extracted. Implants are surgically placed into
the bone. After a healing phase of usually 4 months,
they are uncovered and restored with a crown.
Implants can replace one or multiple teeth. Implants
can also be used to add retention to dentures.
Implants are an option more and more people are
using today to replace teeth they may have lost many
years ago.

Dental health
begins with good oral hygiene. This requires
professional care and guidance provided by your
dentist and dental hygienist. Professional cleaning
removes plaque, calculus (tartar), and stains from
the teeth. Regular dental visits every six months
are essential to maintaining healthy teeth and gums.
Depending on your oral health, you may require more
frequent visits. When you follow a recommended home
care routine and have regular professional care, you
will be able to maintain healthier teeth and gums.

NITROUS OXIDE
Nitrous oxide also known as “laughing gas” is a very
safe and effective treatment for dental anxiety.
Nitrous oxide creates a feeling of relaxation and
well being when it is simply breathed in by the
patient. After the dental procedures are completed
the nitrous oxide is removed and the patient will
breathe in oxygen for 2-3 minutes. It is then safe
for the patient to drive and resume normal activity.
ORAL SEDATION
Oral sedation provides a level of sedation that is
greater than nitrous oxide and utilizes a
pharmologic agent such as Valium. It is a very safe
and effective treatment, which will relax the
patient so that hours of dental treatment feel like
minutes. Dr. Jones will be with the patient at all
times to monitor vital signs and comfort level. The
effects of oral sedation can last two to six hours
and will be personalized to each patient’s specific
needs.
Patients receiving oral sedation are not permitted
to leave the dental office unescorted. They will
need to arrange for someone to take them home at the
conclusion of their appointment .
IV SEDATION
Intravenous Sedation is a safe and highly effective
technique for management of dental anxiety. Drugs
administered intravenously are more effective than
the same drugs taken orally. A major benefit of some
of these IV drugs is amnesia. The patient will have
no memory of some, or even all, of the dental
treatment. The patient will feel like they were
asleep during the treatment when, in reality, they
were awake, but comfortable, at all times. During
the procedure, monitoring devices will be attached
to the patient. These devices monitor the
effectiveness of one's breathing, blood pressure and
heart rate, increasing the safety of the procedure.
